Istinye University Graduate Student Şule Koçdaş Awarded First Place for Best Poster at BIOMED 2025

Şule Koçdaş, a master’s student in the Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering Program at Istinye University, was awarded the First Prize for Best Poster within the scope of BIOMED 2025.

The awarded poster was prepared as part of Koçdaş’s ongoing master’s thesis research and focuses on the development of a rapidly applicable and biocompatible tissue adhesive approach intended for use in the repair of ocular perforations.

The research process began with experimental studies in which different biomaterial components were evaluated in combination and progressed in a systematic manner. Throughout the study, multiple experimental trials were conducted by taking into account the applicability of the developed hydrogel system, its compatibility with biological tissue, and its potential for clinical use. Based on the findings obtained, the research was refined step by step through iterative experiments and comparative evaluations with the existing scientific literature.

From Scientific Research to an Award-Winning Achievement

At this stage of the study, the preliminary findings were presented as a poster at BIOMED 2025 with the aim of receiving scientific feedback and assessing the progress of the research. Following evaluation by the jury, the poster presentation was deemed worthy of the First Prize for Best Poster.

The research is being conducted under the auspices of the Istinye University Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering Research and Application Center (ISUKÖK) and with the approval of the relevant ethics committee. The thesis work is ongoing and will continue to include advanced evaluation and analysis phases.
