The Future of Turkish Football and the Transformation of Sports Media Discussed at the Media Summit from the Heart of Sports!

İstinye University brought together prominent names from sports media at the “Media Summit from the Heart of Sports” to discuss the pulse of football. The summit, which covered a range of important topics, from transfer processes to new media management, evaluated the changing dynamics of sports journalism, the impact of football on media, and the position of Turkish football in the international arena.

“New Media is Changing the Representation of Football”

In the first session of the summit, titled “Sports Media and New Media Management,” sports journalists Efe Gülmez, Tarık Akan, Emre Günay, Suat Yahyaoğlu, and Sercan Şekerci discussed the digital transformation in sports journalism.

Sports journalist Suat Yahyaoğlu emphasized the impact of digitalization on journalism, stating:

“With new media, we have the chance for real-time reporting compared to traditional journalism. Now, journalists, reporters, editors, and announcers take on multiple roles. New media is changing the representation of football.”

Efe Gülmez, discussing football’s privileged position in media, highlighted:

“Football is very valuable for all of us and our country. As new media, we give football more weight compared to other sports.”

The Future of Turkish Football and Transfer Processes Discussed

In the “Transfer Processes and How to Reflect Football to the Public” panel, prominent figures from sports journalism, including Burhan Can Terzi, Kaan Dursun, and Ferhat Kızıltaş, discussed how football is shaped through the media.

Sports journalist Burhan Can Terzi emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge with the younger generation:

“I sincerely thank İstinye University for opening up this area. It’s invaluable for us to share with young media students.”

Kaan Dursun highlighted the image of Turkish football on the international stage:

“When compared to European leagues, Turkey appears to be at a lower level. This makes it difficult to transfer foreign players. The image of the Süper Lig needs to be completely changed.”

“Football and Regulations” Evaluated from an Expert Perspective

At the summit, former football player and coach Yaşar Çevikel shared expert insights on Turkish football and regulations with the participants.
