Istinye University has launched the “Young Science Academy: Bridge You to Istinye” program, offering high school students the opportunity to experience university life up close and actively participate in scientific processes. With its short-term and multidisciplinary structure, the program brings together 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students from prestigious high schools in Turkey and abroad under one academic roof.
The program aims to provide young participants with real university experience, engage them in scientific research processes, support their personal and social development, and enhance their career awareness. Participants have the chance to intern in Istinye University’s laboratories under the guidance of academic mentors, while also receiving basic training in scientific reporting and presentation skills.
Internships are offered in a wide range of fields such as materials science, pharmaceutical sciences, molecular biology and genetics, biotechnology, software and interactive technologies, chemistry, nanotechnology, health sciences, robotics, and clean energy. These experiences provide students with an interdisciplinary perspective.
In addition to scientific training, students participate in workshops focusing on teamwork, leadership, creative thinking, and presentation skills to foster their social and personal development. Through university introduction seminars and campus tours, the program provides participants with a genuine university experience. At the end of the program, students also have the opportunity to present the projects they developed.
The program has attracted applications from students of prominent schools such as Robert College, VKV Koç High School, Saint Joseph French High School, Istanbul Atatürk Science High School, Üsküdar Validebağ Science High School, and Padworth College in the UK, as well as many Anatolian and science high schools across Turkey. By connecting young people with science, the program helps shape their academic and career orientations.
With this program, Istinye University aims to inspire the scientists of the future by offering high school students a unique university experience and introducing them to scientific thinking at an early age.
