Türkiye Ranks 17th Worldwide in Scientific Publications!
Istinye University Ranks Second in Academic Productivity in Türkiye
According to the 2024 University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report published by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Türkiye has made remarkable progress in scientific productivity. The number of institution-affiliated publications in journals and books indexed in SCI, SCI-Expanded, SSCI, and AHCI increased from 87,355 in 2022 to 89,334 in 2023. A total of 196 universities produced at least one publication in indexed journals and books.
Istinye University ranked second in Türkiye based on the number of indexed publications per faculty member. With an average of 2.58 publications per faculty, Istinye placed just behind Koç University (2.73) and ahead of Sabancı University (2.36).
Türkiye Rises in the Global Scientific Arena
YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar stated that Türkiye now ranks 17th globally in scientific publication output and emphasized the country’s ambitious goals to reach the top 10 and eventually the top 5 in the near future. Calling on all universities to become more productive, Özvar highlighted the strategic importance of stronger representation of Turkish universities in international academic rankings.
“One of our strategic goals is to make Türkiye a global hub of research and innovation. There has been a significant increase in the scientific output of our universities. We are in a fierce competition with other major global powers,” he said.
