Istinye University Contributes to Health Tourism: Medical Translation Certificate Program Launched

Launched in collaboration between Istinye University and MLP Care, the Medical Translation Certificate Program aims to enhance the professional qualifications of interpreters working within health tourism, improve communication between patients and healthcare professionals, and establish a quality standard in medical translation services.

Applications are now open for the program, which is designed for those who wish to specialize in medical translation in French, English, Arabic, Russian, and Turkish. The program officially begins on June 16, 2025.

Medical Translation Expertise in 5 Languages

Developed by Istinye University’s Department of Foreign Languages and Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies, the program is tailored for individuals seeking specialization in medical translation across five languages. Participants will receive comprehensive training not only in translation techniques but also in medical terminology, cultural sensitivity, patient-centered communication, and medical ethics.

The 60-hour curriculum per language offers a significant professional development opportunity for both current interpreters and multilingual healthcare professionals. To be eligible, applicants must have at least a B1-level proficiency in the target language and hold a bachelor’s degree in any field. Upon completion, participants will be qualified to work as certified medical translators in healthcare institutions.

Enhancing International Patient Services

Turkey is increasingly preferred for health tourism due to its advanced infrastructure and high-quality healthcare services. However, sustainable success in this field requires not only clinical excellence but also the ability to communicate effectively, reliably, and with cultural sensitivity with international patients.

A Strong Step Toward Sustainable Quality in Health Tourism

By combining academic expertise and social responsibility, Istinye University aims to contribute to Turkey’s service quality in health tourism through this program. The Medical Translation Certificate Program targets improvements in international patient service quality, reducing communication errors, increasing patient satisfaction and trust, and developing a qualified workforce in medical interpreting.

Through this initiative, Istinye University and MLP Care continue to advance their shared vision of delivering globally recognized, high-quality healthcare by nurturing specialized professionals for the industry.
