Green Steps for the Future from Istinye University!

Semanur Torba Represented the University at the Climate Ambassadors Training Camp

Semanur Torba, a student of the Department of International Relations and an Istinye University Climate Ambassador, successfully represented the university at the Climate Ambassadors Training Camp organized by the Presidency of Climate Change in Antalya from February 9-12, 2025.

Raising Awareness in the Fight Against Climate Change

The camp aimed to increase young people’s awareness of climate change and encourage them to take an active role in this field. During the camp, Semanur Torba participated in various training programs and panels. The program also included notable speakers such as Orhan Solak, Vice President of the Climate Change Department, Chizuru Iwata, UNICEF Turkey ADAP Expert, Enise Ademoğlu Matbay, Sustainability Department Head of SANKO Holding, and selected climate ambassadors from universities across Turkey.

Important Initiatives for Sustainability

Semanur Torba, as Istinye University’s Climate Ambassador, integrated her experiences from the camp into the university’s sustainability efforts. In collaboration with the Istinye University International Sustainability Application and Research Center, she proposed ideas for climate awareness activities to be organized across the campus.

New Projects Targeted Within the Leadership Student Program

Semanur Torba emphasized that the projects within the Leadership Student Program aim to focus on student-centered sustainability efforts:

“Within the Leadership Student Program, I aim to develop projects with a focus on green campus practices and prioritize student-centered initiatives to strengthen the Istinye University Climate Ambassadors Network.”

Istinye University continues to support students in taking an active role in the fight against climate change. Sustainability-focused projects, which prioritize societal contribution, are among the university’s main goals. Through initiatives like the Climate Ambassadors Network and Leadership Student Program, the university aims to foster young people’s involvement in finding solutions to the climate crisis and making lasting contributions to long-term sustainability.
