The Graphic Design Program hosted an event on November 21, 2025, at Topkapı Campus, TKZ09, which was attended by Cihan Çetinkaya, Manager of the Graphic Design Department at LC Waikiki. During the talk, Çetinkaya shared his professional journey at LC Waikiki and the dynamics of today’s design world with the students. Touching on what can be done to adapt more quickly to the industry in the field of graphic design, Çetinkaya emphasized that strong communication skills are as critical a requirement as technical equipment and design knowledge. He conveyed that design is not just about aesthetics, but that elements such as team harmony, problem solving, and correct brief analysis are also important factors that determine professional success.
The Right Portfolio Comes from the Right Thought Process
Opening a special section on hiring processes during the talk, Çetinkaya stated that the element they pay the most attention to in candidates is an impressive portfolio and offered concrete suggestions to the students. He emphasized that the portfolio should accurately reflect both the designer’s technical skills and thought process.
