Istinye University has achieved yet another milestone in the international academic arena. The research article co-authored by Dr. Esmail Doustkhah, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and Director of the Clean Energy Research Center, has been selected for the front cover of ACS Applied Energy Materials, one of the most prestigious journals in its field.
This remarkable accomplishment once again highlights the university’s innovative research in clean energy and materials science.
A Study Shedding Light on Next-Generation Energy Conversion
The study, titled “Interlayer Atomic Voids by Partial Cesium Defect in Layered Titanate Activate Photo(electro)catalytic H₂ and O₂ Generation,” was conducted by Tuğçe Üstünel, Julio Gutiérrez Moreno, Xiaoran Zheng, Dr. Sajjad Mofarah, Dr. Hadi Jahangiri, Assoc. Prof. Sarp Kaya, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Esmail Doustkhah.
The research reveals that introducing atomic-level defects can transform an otherwise inactive material into a highly efficient photocatalyst for hydrogen and oxygen generation. These findings hold significant potential for developing more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly solutions for the energy technologies of the future.
Innovative Approaches in Clean Energy Research
This study demonstrates how computational modeling and advanced materials design approaches can have transformative effects on clean energy production and conversion processes.
Carried out under the leadership of the Clean Energy Research Center at Istinye University, such pioneering research contributes not only to academic knowledge production but also to the advancement of sustainable technologies.
As Istinye University, we sincerely congratulate our researchers for this valuable scientific achievement and extend our gratitude to all contributors to the project, as well as to the EIG Concert-Japan Program for their support.
