Part of the 2025–2026 Academic Year Opening Program
As Istinye University embarks on the new academic year, it also turns a fresh page in the field of culture and arts. Legendary Turkish painter and the “Poet of Painting” Devrim Erbil, together with artist and curator Renk Erbil, will meet art enthusiasts with their joint exhibition “The Color of Revolution.” Hosted by the university, the exhibition will be open to visitors from October 6 to December 6, 2025 at the Main Campus Foyer.
Within the scope of the 2025–2026 Academic Year Opening Ceremony, distinguished members of the Istinye community will be recognized, once again highlighting the university’s strong vision of interdisciplinary research.
Awards Ceremony at the Academic Convocation
The ceremony will also feature the presentation of the Academic Incentive Awards, Outstanding Istinye Members Awards, and Social Contribution Awards to students and academics whose achievements contribute to science, society, and the university’s success story.
An Artistic Journey Bridging Generations
For two months, the exhibition will offer a special selection that reflects an intergenerational dialogue in art. Devrim Erbil, who views art as “an expression equivalent to poetry,” will present his passion for Istanbul and nature through rhythmic lines in works spanning oil painting, engraving, tapestry, silk printing, and mixed media. Meanwhile, Renk Erbil reimagines the relationship between color, form, and space through geometric abstraction and contemporary visual memory, also bringing her curatorial vision to the overall exhibition.
The exhibition will also feature a special collection co-signed by father and daughter, blending Devrim Erbil’s signature lines with Renk Erbil’s geometric aesthetic.
Opening Talk: The Transformative Power of Art
As part of the opening, master painter Devrim Erbil will deliver a lecture titled “The Meaning of Art” for students and academics. Emphasizing that art is not only an aesthetic form of expression but also a powerful means of shaping thought, emotions, and social transformation, Erbil will share his own artistic journey with the audience.
A Meaningful Contribution to the World of Art
By hosting this large-scale cultural event, Istinye University strengthens its presence in the field of arts and culture. Alongside its academic identity, the university presents the unifying and transformative power of art to its students, academics, and the broader community. “The Color of Revolution” invites viewers on an inspiring journey from the deep-rooted traditions of Turkish painting to contemporary interpretations.
