Supported under the TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festivals Support Program, the project titled “In the Light of Science: Zeytinburnu – BAZ&25” was held between June 12–18, 2025, at the Zeytinburnu Martyrs’ Science and Art Center, drawing significant public interest.
Aiming to raise awareness around the themes of science, technology, art, and sustainability, the festival reached a broad audience, especially primary and high school students, along with anyone interested in science and technology.
Hands-On Learning for a Sustainable Future
Throughout the festival, students participated in various hands-on workshops focused on sustainability-related topics such as environmental protection, climate change, recycling, energy efficiency, and renewable technologies.
Prof. Dr. Ruken Özgül Kılanç led the Corporate Communication Workshop, enhancing the event’s institutional visibility and supporting the development of participants’ communication skills. Meanwhile, Elif Yılmaz played an active role in coordinating the workshops on-site and adapting the content for technical implementation. Both contributed significantly to the content development and execution phases of the project.
Cultivating Inquisitive and Collaborative Generations
Organized in collaboration with Biruni University, the Zeytinburnu Municipality, and the Zeytinburnu District Directorate of National Education, the project served as more than just a science festival. It was recognized as a model of education that supports the development of critical, creative, and socially conscious individuals.
By embracing an interdisciplinary approach, the festival’s activities both fueled students’ scientific curiosity and helped them strengthen their 21st-century skills. Through active learning experiences, participants had the opportunity to engage directly with science, creating a meaningful and lasting educational impact.
Sustainable Impact Through the Power of Science
The BAZ&25 Science Festival stood out as a meaningful initiative that not only promoted scientific literacy at both academic and societal levels but also instilled a sense of responsibility for a sustainable future. Contributing to Istinye University’s vision of creating sustainable social impact through science, the festival played a vital role in raising awareness among future generations.
We extend our congratulations to the distinguished academics whose contributions made a difference throughout the project and wish them continued success.
